POSITIVE POINTS FOR CONSIDERATION A Gathering Destination from many points The Northern OBX is attractive to many families as an easily accessible gathering place from varied starting points. For three, or four, generation families and friends traveling from disparate locations, the Outer Banks is easily reached. Your Vacation Club concept works for Baby Boomers who like to gather their families together in large well appointed homes. Family members need the easy, varied and simple access offered by multiple possibility road and air travel to the NOBX. Safe and secure. There is no history of crime in this area. Walk the beach at midnight and watch the luminescent tide without care. Families can relax on the beach without concern for intruders. (This is not always the case in off shore places). Limited but satisfying commercial enclaves There are small charming shopping enclaves in Duck and Corolla. There is no strip commercial development along the highway. Instead, drive past waving grass on rolling dunes or ancient oaks and pines. The shops include galleries, eateries and interesting gift, sports and clothes emporia, owner operated and with select goods. There are several high quality restaurants in Duck as well as the Sanderling Inn and Corolla. Climate The NOBX has a temperate climate for nine months of the year. From March until December, it is comfortable to be outdoors.The Gulfstream current warms the water in summer and through the FallThanksgiving and New Year are big family gathering times here, still lots of opportunity for outdoor activities for people of all ages and energies.
